Baritone Marimba
Baritones come in a variety of sizes, with as many custom
options as the rest of our instruments.
Although padauk is a common choice for the keys, many other
woods have been used, including wenge, cherry, defferent
types of mahogany, walnut, african cherry, and more.
Baritones usually do not have F#s, however there are
a number of them out there that do. As always, we can build
your instruments to whatever specifications you choose.
Please keep in mind-
Baritones can be made with folding
or detachable legs.
                      Standard specifications:
Range: G2-D or E4 , C major scale, 12-13 keys.
Dimensions: While dimensions vary, the baritone we
would recommend has 6" wide keys at the bass end
graduating to 4" wide at the treble end.
A 6" wide to 4" wide-padauk-keyed baritone, detachable legs, with
resonators attached. The frame is made of alder.
Back to Instruments
Resonators that hang below the keys amplify the corresponding
note and are equipped with buzzers to produce that traditional and vital
part of Zimbabwean music. The resonators and buzzers are strongly
recommended, however, they are optional.
